Slow but fast

Today was not a bad day. It did get a little bit hot inside, but that means that it was almost 80 (but only about 76 outside). Back home, that is a nice fall day. I did some cleaning and put things away. Had a relatively good day. Got some stuff done for Thirty-One (getting ready for some parties to start!! woo hoo! let me know if you want to host a party or a catalog party!). Emma had a good nap, Maddie slept most of the day due to the shots she had yesterday. Bad part of my day- TOTALLY forgot about dinner. Didn't take anything out but I had a plan. Jared came home and his reaction to the bee stings from Wed night were getting worse. With it being a Friday, and the hurricane coming to end everything for a few days, we decided to go to urgent care in Warrensburg (a solid 30 min drive). The physican's assistant came in, said it was a natural reaction to a bee sting, called in a prescription and we were on our way (less than 5 min). We were driving to McDonald's for dinner (since it was pushing 7:30ish) and we passed a Chinese restaurant. Both of us have been wanting good Chinese food so we decided to splurge. While Jared was inside ordering, he thought that it might be good for us to go to Wal-Mart tonight, since the hurricane is coming and people will go buy out Wal-Mart before we can get there. BUT...our grocery list was at home and I didn't make out the menu yet (which I am REALLY trying to do!!!!) So, we just decided to come home. It was a good idea.
PS- the meds Jared is on make him sleepy I think. He conked out and is sleeping through the creation of this post and off the typing that goes into it. :) Poor guy.

So, about this menu planning. I have been inspired. Two ladies I went to the BI with have a blog that I check out from time to time. Both have posted up about how they plan their menus and what system works for them. I am TERRIBLE at dinner. I don't like to cook, I just like to eat. Therefore, I don't do very well at planning meals much less making them fantastic. So, Katie and Shelby have inspired me to plan ahead so I can make those simple yet fantastic meals, thanks to Kraft magazine. After I found candles, batteries and lighters, I got all my Kraft magazines together and we had a pow-wow. I picked out 20 of my fave recipes. Then I wrote out on a piece of paper (because I prefer paper to computer when gathering my thoughts) all the dates between Sunday and September 15th (that's the day I leave with the girls and my dad to drive to Atlanta). I then wrote out what we had going on for those days (so I knew whether it had to be a quick meal, crock pot meal or I could put a little bit of effort into the meal). Then I just picked recipes to go with days. I hope it was a great matchmaking session. Only time will tell. I am pretty excited about it but I hope it works. Sometimes issues arise and my matchmaking skills leave something to be desired. And sometimes we just don't want what's on the menu :) BUT, at least I have a foundation, now I just have to build my incredible building. All that to say that I'm finally planning ahead on meals.
Funny story- Emma found a new love for today. A flexible trash can. It's made out of some nylon material and it fits perfectly over her head and shoulders. She would put it on, take it off, put it on and then walk around until she tripped over something. She would take it off to see what she tripped over, move it or play with it for a minute, check out what was on PBS at that very second, put the trash can back on and go back to wandering around. It was hilarious. I was able to get some video of her and I will attempt to put it on here, Lord willing, soon. I also would like to figure out how to put pictures up! But until then, check out my facebook page as the pics get sent there. Have a great night and stay safe from the crazy hurricane!
